About UGA Small Animal Hospital

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine's small-animal teaching hospital on the Eastside.

The UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital serves cats, dogs and exotic pets — the Cora Nunnally Miller Small Animal Hospital at 2200 College Station Road, opened in its current building in 2015. It offers 25 specialty services — including cardiology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, internal medicine and soft-tissue surgery — with 67 board-certified clinicians and 36,000 patient visits a year.

Because it is a teaching hospital, patients are cared for by licensed veterinarians — interns, residents and faculty — together with senior veterinary students under supervision. The small animal emergency service is open 24 hours, 365 days; emergencies do not need a referral, though UGA asks clients to call ahead. Client parking is on the west side of the building, across from the Kroger. Main line: (706) 542-3221.

Q: Do I need a referral?

A: Not for emergencies, and not for the zoological (exotic animal) service; UGA asks that you call ahead either way.

Q: Is emergency care really 24/7?

A: Yes — the small animal emergency service runs around the clock, 365 days a year.

Q: What specialties do you offer?

A: 25 services, among them cardiology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, internal medicine and soft-tissue surgery.

Q: Who treats my pet?

A: Board-certified faculty, residents and interns, alongside senior veterinary students under supervision.
