AT&T Adds 5G Site in Barrow County
AT&T added a new cell site to expand 5G coverage and capacity across Bethlehem, serving residents, businesses and public safety users on FirstNet. The site sits southwest of Bethlehem, boosting coverage west of Highway 11 along Tanners Bridge Road. Barrow County Board of Commissioners Chairman Pat Graham said reliable wireless connectivity is essential for the county and that such investments support economic opportunity and keep the community connected. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith added that enhanced connectivity helps first responders communicate quickly and reliably, and that the new site supports emergency response capabilities. AT&T 5G reportedly reaches more than 320 million people in over 27,700 cities and towns nationwide, including Bethlehem. The enhancements bring Band 14 spectrum to the area for FirstNet, described as public safety's dedicated lane, while also adding coverage and capacity for regular AT&T customers. Brian Barfield, Regional Director of External Affairs for AT&T Georgia, said the company is proud to invest in Barrow County's wireless infrastructure. From 2021 to 2025, AT&T reportedly invested more than $18.2 billion in Georgia's wireless and wireline networks.
